Artists Statement
The project was initiated in March 2020, when spain entered in state of emergency because of the corona virus. From one day to the other almost all the activity stopped in Barcelona. The project comes from a frustration. A frustration of being locked-in in a city. She felt stuck inside. Her only access to the outdoor was the rooftop from the building. This rooftop become then her space of freedom, of creation and contemplation. At some point she realises that this privation of freedom in the public area was allowing her to have more freedom within her private space. She started to see that contemplation could give her all the space she needed. She understood that at the end what was really essential was to see the stars shine at night and feel the sun, the wind, and the rain on her skin. And from this she understood that it didn't really matter to be locked in a castle or in a small Barcelona flat...

From this experience I did 3 little stories : "petites histoires confinées" some little movie with sound recorded on my phone, videos that I shot during the lockdown, and text that I wrote on my journal or inspired by the world of dear friends from audio conversation on whats app. The project includes some photos & watercolors drawing also made during the same period of time.

For "histoires confinées", I collaborated with Talkunderlight an independent brand created by Lara. She is working with organic and natural dyes. Her garments are handmade in Barcelona. Her creation "seek women’s emotional contact with their clothing and with the Earth".
