TRANSITIONS
In collaboration with the visual Artist, Mery Baridon and the lingerie brand Catwalk.
Artists Statement Transitions is a collaboration between two visual artists, using videos, photographies, writing, voices, and their own bodies to express their feelings about the "in between state". The project was initiated in October 2019, when Solène and Mery where both living in Barcelona. They where just starting to work for the same company. They both knew this job was just for a few months, in order to pay their bills for now and be able to work on creative projects, plant the seed of something with more sense for the future. The future was promising the present, a dream. They did the photos and videos for "transitions" in Sitges, a little town by the sea, 40 min away from Barcelona. A place where people come and goes. We both got inspired by a vignards, in between the sea and the hills. By this time of the year, the vinyards looked left alone, resting, after a full season of harvesting. Waiting for the next blooming to start and the grapes to grow to be harvested again. In december 2019, Mery went back to Uruguay and Solèneback to France. They were reunited in February 2020, where they met again to keep working on transitions with all the material we created. But soon the Corona Virus happened. And time separated them again. Mery went back to Urugay just before the lockdown and Solène stayed in Barcelona. Again, life seems to brings some uncertainty... When for both of them the beginning of the 2020 year where a beginning of new personal and professional projects. Being far away and both in quarantine allowed them to focus on the present. Deep dive in their fears, hopes and dreams. And they kept inspiring each other during the lenghts of the quarantine from afar. And at least they found the perfect space and time to work and finalize "transitions". This event made them realize that transition is actually a permanent state. |
La lenteur - Resting
For Transitions, we collaborated with Catwalk Lingerie, an independent brand created by a female designer based in Uruguay. Her design, ethically produced in Montevideo, tend to "expand the margins of eroticism by exploring and proposing new universes associated with sensuality".The starting point of this project, was a willing to explore and exchange about our emotions, feelings and intimacy. A creative union with other women. Like a sacred circle.
The garment she offered to us where one of the starting point of this project. We got inspired by them, they felt like a second skin. Empowered to share our most intimate skin.
